Neighbor asked me to check out his Lawn-Boy 10358 after his lovely wife tried to mow over a softball sized decorative stone! I started the mower & it ran but had a terrible sound from under the deck. Found that the blade adapter was broken (shocking!). Removed the blade & adapter & attempted to start the mower to see if there were any other noises. The recoil nearly ripped my arm off & a puff of smoke came out of the muffler! My question: Does the resistance of the drive belt on the blade adapter have a direct relationship to the engine? I already checked the flywheel key & it was fine...At a loss...

Trying to start an engine without a blade will do that. Lol I found out the hard way.... Nearly pulled my fingers off.
