found my problem When I took the air cleaner cover off I could see the wiring under the shrould and the mice had chewed 5 wires into.

Ha! I had the same thing happen. Mice chewed through the wiring. I also had mice nesting in my skid loader. I got in it and started it up and one of them jumped on my head and ran all the way down my leg to the holes below the pedals. We had four cats living outside and I gave them a lecture about not doing their job.
