The only location that I know of is the model number tag, which in your case is msissing. the M or MV is a flat head opposed twin engine. the CH and CV are overhead valve engines, if that helps. the problem with Kohler is without a spec number they can be hard to look up parts for.
If the engine is off the original piece of equipment, I would think that if you took the model and serial number to the local dealer and ask them for some help. If it is one of the major brands there are ways for them to back check the numbers. Big Box brands are a lot more difficult .

Does take time but may work.
Only downfall of kohler is the sticker falling off but briggs no's are now even harder to read if on the rocker covers of certain models as not punched anymore but scribed on.
