Recently got the mower deck back on after buying some new parts.
The Blades will not engage when in forward, BUT I can start them In reverse.

Some mowers have a reverse cut out but I don't recall the John Deere 180 having one. Sound like you got something crossed to your electric clutch which should just have a on and off switch??
Im almost positive its the switch is the issue, which was recently replaced. The weird thing on the reverse, is according to the manual, you have to turn the engine off, flip it then turn it back on, But with mine..I have to flit it with the engine on.
