Idler arm tension spring

My practically new snapper pro s50xt wouldn't move and when I looked underneath I saw the idler arm tension spring hanging down from the eye bolt on the frame. The other end was broke off so instead of hauling my machine 75 miles to my dealer for a warranty repair I got a spring. My question is where is it suppose to attach to the idler arm? Or does it attach under the pulley to the pulley bolt? My owners manual doesn't show a detailed picture. Thanks for any help.
