Husqvarna kohler courage 20 - white smoke

I have a husqvarna tractor with a kohler courage 20. Model SV600.

When it is running fast, white smoke begins to come out of the exhaust and it starts to sputter. When I lower the idle it stops smoking and recovers until the idle is raised again. I know very little about lawn mower engines, but when I took the air filter off, gas dripped out. Also it appears that there is some kind of blower hose that runs from the front of the engine into the top of the air filter assembly. Gas appears to spit out of this tube when running. Thoughts?

Real good chance you have a blown head gasket and it is blowing back thru the intake valve. Remove the oil dipstick while running and see if you are getting a lot of pushing out of the tube.
