I have a wood spliter with a gcv 160 on it. Will only work with choke closed. Saw several people on your form with the same problem. No sure-fire solution. I am going to squirt a little starter fluid around the base of the carb to look for a vacuum leak. Other than that I am stumped.

You probably need to clean the carb.
