I just rebuilt a 5243 "suitcase" that has turned out really nice. However, I can't seem to figure out how the shaft from the Hi/Lo speed selector lever on the back of the shroud connects up to the governor linkage and I can't find any diagrams that show it. Anyone know?
Hmmm the Lawn-Boy mechanics handbook doesn't show a clear picture of the governor linkage speed control rod. I did own a 8255 that was similar to your 'suitcase'. The speed control rod attaches to the governor spring applying more or less spring tension to control RPM. This diagram is from the Lawn-Boy website.
