I have a nice mower in fair shape, but the engine smoking and running bad . The shop I went to said they could not get the parts. trying to sell me a new mower.

Lets start with the model type and code of the Briggs engine that is one the mower now. If flat head should be stamped into the blower housing above the spark plug. If OHV then will be on the valve cover.
