Growing tobacco

I have a tobacco plant that a coworker gave me the other day. I want to plant it in the ground in my garden, but I'm not sure how to grow tobacco. Is it the same as growing, flowers? Just water and sunlight?

To officially grow tobacco I think you need some sort of government permit but I don't think they will hassle you for just one plant. Just let it grow like any other plant. When it gets flowers and suckers it cut them off. If you want to smoke it, let it dry indoors first.

As far as I know it's the same as if you were growing flowers. Just plant it in the ground in some nice soil, water it as needed, and wallah! You should have some tobacco.
