Hello, I recently replaced one of the ignition coils with a aftermarket one and now when you shut the key off the engines tries to keep running on that one cylinder for a few seconds. It acts like the cheaper aftermarket coil isn't grounding out well when I shut the key off. I have checked the wiring and all is good. Has anyone heard of this problem with the aftermarket coils? Thanks, Dave
Off topic a little, perhaps, but "running on" used to be due to hot spots in combustion chambers (like glowing carbon ) and/or failure of butterfly closure in carb .
I think many of the Briggs type engines also have fuel cutoff valves at the carb.
