I'm looking at the possibility of getting a 2009 IS 1500 with a 21 HP Kawasaki with 290 hrs. It's in great shape but I'm more concerned about the machine as a whole and its performance. I have only 1.5 acres but I've been told by someone who has demo'd one that it left tufts of grass after the cut. Since I haven't tested one I'm looking for feedback.
I'm not sure what you mean by tufts. If you mean,what I call clumps(cut but not well spread bunches), it could be caused by several things. Wet grass- Grass too tall for the mowing speed- Dull blades-Too low engine rpm or maybe slipping blade belt. gregjo1948
I Have 2 Ferris new 1500 and 2 year old 2000 1500 has 52 inch deck and 2000 has 61 inch deck I have never had a problem with that it would sound like to me the grass it to high or very wet I mow my customer 1 per week and never have ha any problem. It also could be deck is not clean or has mulch unit on with caked on grass. Hope this helps
