I never use anything.
I don't even clean under the deck.
Once you get a layer of grass under there. It will get hard and no more grass will stick. And it stops water from rusting the deck.
heavy clay and thick grass here - means grass sticks like a son of a gun. I'm a bit of a yard nut - down to spraying about 6 dandelions a week now on 1 acre . . . working on chickweed too and then will work on clover
