Yes, if you look close, there are tiny tabs around the outside of the filter that contact in inside of the actual filler next. The filter/screen is held in place by slight pressure from these tabs. You can easily just reach your finger down into the next, apply a bit of pressure to once side, and then pull the screen up and out.
