I have 47.5 hrs on my Simplicity Prestige, 2008 manufacture. Engine was a great running gem with no prior problems!!! Well taken care of machine! Normally, after blade shutoff, engine maintains fast idle. If I turn engine off immediately there is run-on or loud backfire. If I let engine idle from 30sec. to 1 min. minute after blade shutdown, no problems!!
Last week I finished cutting back yard of .75 acre. Shut the mower deck down and shut engine off following at around 1800 rpm. Let engine cool off. Upon restart, blue smoke!! I said OH MY goodness what happened. I've never seen this before on any air-cooled engine. Why did engine go from beautiful to oil burner?
Please post the model numbers for the engine. Could be that it has blown the head gasket, Knowing the model number will help us to proceed in assisting you.
