Electric Starter/Battery

My Troy-Bilt lawnmower is 10+ years old and the battery gave out years ago, and really don't use the electric starter. I want to remove the battery and the housing it's in. Do I just remove it or are there some precautions I should take? Thanks

PS: Model is a TB210.

The manual only explains how to replace the battery. I want to completely eliminate the battery and housing. I don't use the electric start and the battery is over 10 years old. Thanks

Just remove it all. I don't think your engine has a charging system, but if it does, just tape up the lead wire so it can not come into contact with metal.

I did as you suggested and worked just fine. Lawnmower feels lighter. Thanks again
