Hustler Raptor 42" with Kawasaki FR651V engine. When I pull up the blade engagement knob, there is often a delay before the blades engage, anywhere from a brief moment to upwards of 20 seconds. It doesn't happen every time, but tends to get worse after mowing for a while. The blade belt is not slipping on the pulleys. Otherwise, the engine runs fine, and once engaged, cuts fine. Any ideas?

best guess = The electric PTO or the relay switch you pull on to start the blades will need replacement in the future.

I would probably connect a temporary 12volt test light to the PTO clutch wire and see if the light comes on when I operate the dash switch. If it does and the clutch don't en-gauge the clutch itself is hanging.
If the light does not comes on you have to test backwards. (upstream)
