I have a 2006 Cub Cadet Zero Turn 50" deck. While recently mowing, the the deck belt broke. After purchasing a belt and replacing it, now the PTO will not engage. when I pull the switch, it makes a brief chriping sound and that's it. I am not a lawn mower mechanic by no means, and do not have a lot of knowledge on this model, but can follow basic troubleshooting procedures. Any advice. Thanks.

Look under the engine, you will see a small plug on the end of the wires attached to the PTO. You might have dislodged this connection between the clutch and the switch.

Look to see if the broken deck belt damaged the PTO wires when it broke .

Thanks. Excuse my ignorance, it appears the PTO is engaging it was the idler pulley spring had come loose. Belt was too loose. With the spring attached, how tight should the belt be? Seems very tight. I want to make sure it's correct before I break another. I have confirmed it is the correct replacement deck belt. Thanks.
