Cub Cadet Electrical Help

Hello Gang,

I bought a Cub Cadet SLT1550 that the wiring harness had been mangled up by the PTO.

As I try and show from the wiring pic, I had 4 broken wires.

I put the red and white back to the red and white but I am unsure where to reconnect the other 2.

Any help is appreciated.

Which engine on it? Doesn't look like the Kohler that the 2007 and earlier models came with. Also need the model number starting with the 13 off the serial number tag.

The engine is a Briggs and Stratton 18 HP https://www.engine-specs.net/briggs-and-stratton/422707.html

Model Number: 13AQ11BP756

Thanks.

Start at page 71 in your Service Manual below after locating your model.
When looking for OEM Cub Cadet Parts google part # example: PTO Clutch is $535.59 on website above with part # 917-04174A, click below for same part.

Engine transplanted Brigg Opposed was not originally used according but a Kohler Courage v-twin. The transplanter got lucky the the Kohler had an one inch PTO end.

The violet (purple) wire is the charging wire. The red was the carburetor fuel solenoid. The yellow wire was the magneto kill wire. You would to pull the engine's shroud and verify the current wiring of the engine as the Briggs service doesn't indicate colors used on those old opposed engines.

The green wire was for lighting ground.

Not sure on the white wire used.

Awesome. All great info and I thank you. I will dig more into it this weekend.

This will a project mower for the spring and into summer.

Maybe finding a motor that has the 6 port plug would be a simpler option.

Green should be your ground and purple for rectifier
