Hi guys, hope yall can help. My boss has a cub cadet1042. Apparently his son has somehow let the oil get low or completely out. While mowing it seemed to lose power and die once. Started back up and mowed for another half hour, then died again and would not turn over, not even spin the flywheel. Is this motor blown? Can it be rebuilt at a decent price? Could the engine be broken loose relubed and still used? It's a kohler courage 18.5 hp. It never started knocking or making any bad noise, just died. Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

You would have to tear it down to see the damage. Many times the rod just seizes, and you can get by with just replacing the rod and buffing out the crankshaft.
