Craftsman (Kohler CV20s 65530) dies when Brake/clutch is released

Deck is off and mower sitting up on planks and saw horses. Just installed a new carburetor and put the old cracked " Drive" belt on until new one arrives. It fires up fine but dies when clutch/brake is released. Drive belt is in correct configuration.
It was running too rich and would start smoking black and want to die before the new carb but didn't. Now with a minimal load it is dying out. Does the carb need an adjustment; if so- where can I find the specs?
Thank you- Phil

Hello Phil, & WELCOME to LMF...

Is it even trying to move?

Sure sounds as if something is locking up the drive belt...
Gibe it another look and check if you can rotate the pulleys... :smile:KennyV

Got it figured out. Duh; My bucket of sand on the seat wasn't heavy enough to prevent the seat from rising up and the sensor under it shutting down the mower. Running great now.
Thank you for your time-

I think I read someplace a few years ago that the seat safety switch is designed to be deactivated by a minimum of 125 pounds to push down the seat to deactivate the switch. other seats compress the foam in the seat to deactivate the switch.

Thank you, that is good to know and would probably take a vast amount of time to find out.http://www.lawnmowerforum.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
