You can if u can get it to fit, that" sounds like you are going a little bit bigger but it might work. You will have to measure and see if it will work. Just make sure you have room so it not to tight of space so the engine will cool ok. Other then that just do some measuring and you should be ok.

I don't have the link right now, but there is a major size tractor shop the sells engine conversion kits. I paid about $2000 for a kit that included the motor, to replace a blown B&S engine with a Honda 24HP. Everything was there, wiring and all.

When changing engines investigate first. I have a Cub 2042 with a 18HP Kohler Command V-2. I runs at less than 2100 RPM. A Friend of mine bought another major brand tractor with a 24HP Kohler Command engine. The only difference between the two, besides the extra $700 he paid, is the governor. His engine runs at near 3,000 RPM!
HP = rpm x T(torque) / 5252(constant)

Raise the max RPM and you can make an extra buck by stating a higher horsepower!

Your 18 hp Kohler has a maximum safe working RPM of 3600, and that's where the power is rated. At 2100 your motor is making somewhere around 12 hp. Maximum torque ( 32 ft/lbs) starts to drop off after 2400 rpm and by 3600 rpm is at about 27 ft/lbs.

Your friends new Kohler 24 is an EFI model, also rated at 3600 rpm.

If you have a tach, check the rpm at full throttle, it should be well over 3000 rpm.
