Broken blade adaptor and will not start

I have a craftsmen with B&S 6.5 motor

My blade adaptor is broken.

Will this keep engine from starting?

Yes, post model number please as well as all numbers from engine. You may also have a broken flywheel key.

Couple of months ago plastic axel cover broke underneath and axel kept falling. I fixed that

Tonight made 2 swipes in yard and heard clink and mower stopped

Looked underneath and blade adaper is broke and mower will not start. Did not hit anything tonight

Note keyway on adapter, slides into crankshaft, very important, helps control balance of crankshaft at bottom end. Page 19 in manual has installation instructions. I would purchase new blade and install along with new adapter and you'll be good to go. Be sure to use oem parts listed. Let us know how it goes.
