NEED HELP I have a Briggs Engine Mode #l110432-0149-E1 OVH that will not start, it has a spark, I replaced the carb, still it won't start, it pops or back fires. I tried to check the valve clearance but there is a valve cap and then there is the rocker arm. The valve is not loose so I kind of ruled that out because the clearance is .005 for both Intake and Exhaust. The push rods was not bent. It is connected to the tines by belt so I just assumed the fly wheel key wasn't sheared. The only thing left is to check the compression, I have read it may have a compression release if so it should be around 60PSI. Thanks in advance.

First thing I would look at is the flywheel key.

Thanks, for the quick response however, I just went to HF and bought a compression tester and found it to have no compression. I verified the tester on another B/S engine and had and held compression. Now I will begin to look to see why there is no compression. Again Thanks.
