sorry my first post was missing info. im working on a bolens 13am762f765 with a variable speed drive. ive replaced both b elts.. gotten the big spring to the back on without a problem. having trouble replacing the idler spring that connects the frame. closest I can get it is about 2 inches away. tried prying it over and tried using a string, no luck either way. is there that much tension on this spring?
I find it easier to fit the belts with springs in place.
That way you have the lever arm to grab onto & help stretch the springs.
Ratchet tie downs work really well.
With the spring off make a double loop out of thin wire through the hook of the spring & the hook of a puller of some kind
pull the spring get it over the hole & push it in then back off the puller ( ratchet tie downs work well ) then cut the wire off & pull it out from under the spring.
