I recently acquired a zero turn 248f. It has a weak battery so decided to replace with new. It looks to me like a major operation to get battery out! Does all linkage for drive clutches have to be disconnected? what am I missing?

This is what the owners manual says.
Replacing battery
1. Lift seat and push forward.
2. Using two 1/2" wrenches disconnect BLACK
battery cable then RED battery cable.
3. Position deck to lowest setting.
4. Front underside of frame, remove the nuts
securing the battery hold-down.
5. Carefully remove the battery from the mower.
6. Install new battery with cable terminals routed
to the center of the battery

Finally got the battery out and new one in! But...... in my struggles I must have broken a wire somewhere. It starts fine but when engaging drive motors a safety shuts the engine. This mower is full of wiring, or so it seems. When the rain stops I'll jump on it again and try to figure out something, or jump some switches.
