Another Snow Thrower question

Sure hope you folks are not getting tired of my questions. Here's another one for snow thrower users. I had talked to a mechanic and he indicated that you should put some of the weight of the snow thrower onto the grasshopper. Does this sound right? And how do you accomplish this? I realize when you pull up on the height adjustment lever that puts weight onto the unit in return it raises the blower off the ground as well. help me better understand this and what works best for users here. Thanks

He's talking about putting a counter weight on the back of your mower. Probably a 50# weight would be enough for your 616 mower. Read this recent thread, http://www.lawnmowerforum.com/grasshopper-forum/30088-snowblower-counter-wieght-question.html

I think I need to start reading the owners manual, it's amazing the information the manufactures gives us.

"Set the skids to allow the blade to lightly scrape the surface being cleared," "After skids are adjusted , adjust the lift chains to transfer some of the snow-thrower weight onto the tractor"

Typical guy thing, read the instructions after I ask the question, go figure.....
