I have a 8hp briggs that turns over hard. Cylinder walls looks brand new. need suggestions on what is making it turn over so hard.

Could be the Compression release. Could you "describe" any sounds it makes?
Or it could be as simple as a bad battery.

I got the motor given to me so I just wanted to check how the cylinder looked. I do have it mounted up and it does run but turns over harder than the motor the froze up.
