675 series leaking oil

My Troy-Bilt mower wouldn't start so I added oil then it started smoking after I added oil. Noticed oil is leaking.

Failure to start more than likely had nothing to do with your oil. You should check the oil and add if low on the dipstick. But only to the full mark. Sounds like it is now to full of oil and it is leaking out. Might be a good time to take it to a repair center.
