this engine is hard to start ,,, I get some back firing and kick back when I pull to start ,, could this be the flywheel key ?

The key would be prime suspect
No 2 would be valve lash

I was thnking the same thing, and after looking at the mower closer , I find it has a new blade however the blade mount is bent up on one side,,, so I suspect they have hit something with it bent the old blade, replaced it and now having trouble starting it, ill inspect fly wheel key and report back ,, thanks for the reply
