I was given a Lawnboy model 10641 and is in great shape except for the fact it runs wide open. I'm not sure how to get it back into spec. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the response. I did fail to mention in my haste the linkage is all free. The engine rpm can be brought down by moving the governor lever. A post I had read earlier mentioned the governor's butterfly should be wide open in the shut down mode. This is something I need to look at and verify is happening.

Have you checked the governor spring which is under the governor vane on the throttle shaft? These tend to break or someone has tried to adjust and bent it. check this out. http://www.mytractorforum.com/155-walk-behind-mowers/136411-how-replace-governor-spring.html
