2000 series 2185 Runs 15-20 minutes stalls, seems to be overheating, have replaced fuel filter, fuel pump, vacuum line, cleaned gas tank, mower runs great 15 minutes, runs filter dry. Recovery time at least 15-20 mins, then runs great for another 15-20 mins, backfires, stalls, overheats. Any ideas?

Are you saying it runs the fuel filter dry? Your gas cap is still vented and not plugged somehow? I guess that would be to easy.

Remember carbon build up on the head generates great heat and makes the fuel burn before the compression stroke .

check for spark when it dies when hot. most of the time when coils go bad they stop producing spark when they get hot then when they cool they produce it again

if it runs the filter dry check your gas cap and make sure you can suck air threw the little hole on top.
