I have a 2004 Troy Bilt Pony lawn mower. I have just completed installing new drive belts. The mower starts just fine but when the clutch is released the engine dies. This happens in neutral as well as in gear. I suspect it has something to do with one of the safety switches. Thanks for any help on this problem.

Most likely the seat switch, but could be other safety switches.

WELCOME to LMF...

Did it do this Before you changed the belts??
I it is likely what ILENGINE suggested... a safety lockout... :smile:KennyV

No. it did not have this problem before changing the belts. I really do not believe the belt change has anything to do with the problem. It is most a problem that was just waiting to happen. I am in the process of checking all the switches.
