After getting the OEM part number, I ordered a Stens PTO for my 1988 1822D Grasshopper. Tonight when I tried to install the PTO the pulley was not spaced properly away from the flywheel housing and the crankshaft extended out past the PTO. So it was obvious that the PTO would not tighten down and the inner race would not seat against the original 1/8" spacer that was behind the old PTO.
I measured the old PTO inner shaft depth at 3.180, the Stens unit measured 2.745 which a difference of .193. The shaft measures 2.987 less 2.745 for the Stens PTO = .242 or close to 1/4" thickness issue. Does anyone know if there is an additional 1/4" spacer required for the Stens PTO?
