mower just won't go in gear

Hello, I have a 2010 cub cadet LXT1042 which I was using yesterday just fine with no signs of trouble. I was pulling the yard sweeper on the back of it went to back up between two trees to empty and when I got back on and started it up it would not go into gear either direction. Is there some sort of linkage that might have come loose?
