Briggs 42A707 opposed twin 18.5

No fire to plug, so cleaned the edge of the flywheel, removed the coil and cleaned the contacts (two outside ones, and the small one in the middle). Put the flywheel and key back on, bolted her down, and still no fire. Even without the kill wire to the coil.

Only thing I can think of now, is going to be either the alternator or the wires to it.

Anyone got any idea's?

No spark with the kill wire unplugged would mean that the ignition module is bad. Just make sure there isn't voltage getting to the module that caused it to fail.

When I put the other coil on it, I got the same results. I got one more coil I can try.

LOL Wish me luck.

Now I remember why I still had that new coil. Cause it was a bad one i never threw away.

Problem solved. Used coil from a junk mower did the trick.

Thanks.

Seriously, thank you. After putting on that new coil, I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what the heck else it could be.

Stick with the basics.
