Craftsman 22" bag attachment flap

Hey all.I have an older craftsman 22" self propelled mower which is an awesome machine.Runs beautifully for a 17 y.o.(011601M) mower.My thing is bagging.When i do bag at times,it seems the flap doesn't seem to close completely flush thus letting grass and stuff fly out all over the place.However,it DOES let you know when it's getting full.Can that be fixed? Do i need a new spring(s),or a new flap? I have no way of transporting this to a repair shop.So is it a quick fix?

I would say springs are sprung being 17 yrs. old.
