Hey guys. I have a Dixon ZTR model 4515. It has a 15hp briggs model: 28N707 Type: 0115-01 Anyway, I am looking for an engine (preferably a bit more HP) that would be a direct drop in replacement. I KNOW it needs a 9 amp alternator to run the PTO correctly.

Hoping some of you can point me to some other model engines that would work well for me. I don't want to pay more than $300-400 if possible.

Thanks for any help

To do an almost headache free replacement, you SHOULD stay with a Briggs, BUT, that's YOUR choice to decide, I think you may find the prices a bit more than you expected, anyway here's a few site's you may care to browse through ....... in any event, Good Luck !!

the smallenginewarehouse site can take your mower type and give you back some equiv or better hp engines... willing to bet it will spit out something like a 33s877 (20hp briggs) But you will be in the 500-600 dollar range. Harbor Freight has a 13hp 420cc engine for less but... I have only seen it in a horizontal. Also going to newer eng will most likely require you update some wiring... when I moved from your eng on my snapper zrider a few years ago to a 31x677 (or something like that) I had to update for the carb solenoid and something else... maybe low oil. Some of these sites have sales if they get over stocked... you may get lucky!

At this time of the season, replacement engines are more expensive and harder to come by.
If that is all you can afford then it is the cheap Chinese engine lottery for you.
Fit it and hope it works , be preparred for it not to work so you will need to take it out again for a warranty replacement.
And of course, no support and no parts.
