The 4WS JD's are in a class above the Husky's you list. They're probably at least double the cost of the Husky but this is one of those cases where you actually do get what you pay for.

i don't doubt it...like i said in my original post john deere and kubota are nice but pricey...what is the equivalent tractor to the ts348xd in the john deere line?...i think you're in at least the x500 to get a comparable transmission according to the site below...and then i'm looking at a lot more money plus no close by dealer...i just wonder about the longevity of the 4ws models...more moving parts in the rear typically means more slop over time...i really haven't researched them though

I don't own a 4WS JD but two of my neighbors do. I don't know exactly when they got them, but we've been living here for 15 years and I've never seen either of them have any trouble.

thanks...that's good to know...if i can find a x465 or higher 4ws gas model with low hours, a 48" deck, close by and without a bunch of extras in my price range i may bite...i just don't see it happening...not to mention i don't want to end up buying someone else's problems (no warranty if there are issues)

One of the JD only mows three acres but the other one was mowing nine acres. He also plows snow with his and drives like a wild man whether mowing or plowing snow. This one has the horizontal shaft Kawasaki engine. I don't know what engine the other has.

Does that JD have the horizontal shaft Kawasaki V-twin and 4WS? If 'yes' to both, that's a plus but at a $6k original price, I doubt it does.

Another thing to consider is, private sale = no sales tax. Tack that onto the price of the new Husky.

JD originally sold for almost twice the price of the Husky. With only 180 hours on the clock, it SHOULD have a lot of life left in it.

very close to pulling the trigger on a Husqvarna TS 348XD...got a price of $3500 for the tractor and $400 for the bagger from the local hardware store...MSRP price on the husqvarna website is $3400 so i assume the extra $100 is for assembly and setup for the dealer...i think i'm going to save $100 and just buy the bagger from lowes and install it myself and buy the mower from them

went to the somewhat local family owned true value...they have to see if they can order/locate a TS 348XD for me...i still have a push mower that i can cut the lawn with so i am going to tell them that i can wait for whatever option is cheaper...probably buy the bagger from lowes and install it myself since it will be cheaper that way...tractor price quote was $3500...bagger was $400
