hello im trying to repair a friend in needs lawnmower! I have put a new transmission or drive belt on and cant seem to get proper routing of belt???there is only 3 pulleys and a small belt but im missing something??? cant find proper diagram on internet? any help would be greatly appreciated!!! thank you

Go to sears parts direct and when you put in your model number it will show you routing for both drive and deck belt.

Thank you! That's how I have it and it's loose and won't move?? Guess I'll crawl back under it and take another wack tomorrow!! I appreciate your help!!

Make sure that the idler arms move freely.

I think I need to tighten clutch and maybe speed rod? Went brain dead for a little while! Let you know how it went , after I get a chance to look at it! THANK YOU!!

Are you saying you are replacing the small belt under the battery that has 2 small and one very large pulley on the run ?
If so that is the top belt of a 2 belt system and generally I replace them in pairs.
Also they must be original or at least OEM belts, as they are a totally different shape to a normal V belt.
Pop your numbers into Parts tree or Jacks small engines and bring up the entire transmission diagram.
Craftsman usually have the belt routing on a sticker under the left foot board
