After having some belt problems on my Craftsman L3000, I took the deck off. I notice that the left pulley is not in line with the right pulley or the two relay pully. The left pully is a full inch lower that the other three. None of the pullies have been changed in any way. One tech looked at the deck and said it appears that it needed a spindle an inch longer, but in that case the cover would not fit. It came from the factory this way and I have mowed for years with no problems. I am going to clean and lubricate the movement of the center pullies. I don't know the correct name for them, the ones that use the back of the belt. Can someone explain this difference in height, lack of alignment.?

The bearings have collapsed and allowed the spindle to drop down.
Buy the time they get that bad it is usually new spindle hosing time.
Amazed you did not notice a bad cut.

Usually the two idler pulleys between the deck & the engine are a bit higher to allow for the deck & engine being at different heights.
