Greetings.

About 5 seconds after turning off my G110 riding mower I usually get a backfire coming from front of engine. I just did a simple maintenaince on my G110 rising mower: fuel filter, new plug, air filter, fresh oil but no change in the condition. Common causes of this symptom?

Thanks!

Low octane fuel, exhaust valve gets very hot and when ignition is shut off, the lean mixture will ignite on the valve..
Try a higher octane fuel, or various throttle settings when you shut down...
The backfire will eventually use up the muffler... :smile:KennyV

Thanks for the reply. Will test with some 93 octane and report back.

I found if you bump the throttle up a little just above idle it won't backfire
