Contrary to popular belief they are there to protect either the mower, the operator and or bystanders.
All of them have been placed there as a result of court orders following the serious injury of someone.
They are cheap to replace and easy to fix.
And finally if you can not work out how to bypass them there is a better than average chance you can not safely operate the mower without them.
