According to the parts list the carb is a 632351. This engine is on a 30 year old generator which I bought new, it burns no oil and other than carb cleaning it has been flawless. Now the choke and spring assembly is broken and has to be held in place with a stiff wire once it is warmed up.

This carb seems to be unique to particular HM80 models and not available even on Ebay except a new Tecumseh at close to $100 while a bunch of import replacements are in the $15-35 range for other Tecumseh models in the HM-80-100 family. At 77 Im on a fixed income and this winter has already been rough on finances.

My questions:

Can I use one that has no needle jet adjustment? Will my bowl and a new needle/seat kit work....or am I fighting a metric battle?

Can I use one that has the gas inlet at a right angle by unscrewing and using a straight one? Cant tell from photos if they unscrew. Otherwise I'll run a new gas hose.

What about ones that have 1-2 extra (vacuum?)ports? Can these just be blocked/plugged?

Does anybody have a bolt on replacement, original, rebuilt, etc I can afford?

Thanks for any help,
John

Or, am I missing something?
Good luck!

Ive already seen those and they prompted my questions above. Do you have specific answers?

I ordered one these cheapy carburetors for my HM 100 Tecumseh engine about a year ago, $15.00 or so, worked great 1st pull started right up, only had to adjust the idle speed screw, which was the ONLY screw on the carb, just make damn sure you check the pics of the linkage arms, to be sure you are ordering the right carb, the links below show various Tecumseh carbs for an HM 80,.. but I did NOT see your number, as long as its for an HM 80 and the linkage is the same, for that price, go for it ! beats $80.00 + for a new one ......

AND ....... THIS, is the one I bought last year, guess we gave ya something to look at

ebay.com/itm/CARBURETOR-for-Tecumseh-HM80-HM85-HM90-HM100-Generator-10hp-Snowblower-640260A-/252230541825[/url]

All those have various differences from mine and excuse my mangling some terms:
Also I cant post links until I increase my post count, maybe these will get thru.

- no main jet adjustment
- extra ports for what? Fuel, air??
- part that the governor rod goes into has stop on wrong side or no holes for the rod

This one has the straight in hose connection:ebay.com/itm/Carburetor-...YAAOSwL4BZr-QG

- but no main jet adjustment
- part that the governor rod goes into (butterfly valve?) has stop on wrong side or no holes for the rod.

And appears to be the same as this used one: ebay.com/itm/Tecumseh-Ca...UAAOSwk1haIYfw

Looks real rough and looks like a hole in it

Similar reasons to the above and I dont know enough about what parts I can swap, if anything, from the USA original and the Chinese offerings.

I managed to get thru the last storm without power for 4 days and will try to take a few pics soon once the WX reports look good for awhile so I can pull the carb.

John, when you get your carb off, check to see if it looks close to this one, this has the original p/n to your carb, the fuel inlet port is straight-in, the other "barbed black port" near the the inlet side looks to be a "breather-line connection" ( can be blocked if not needed) the only other concern is the linkage arm, I too live on a fixed income, so I know your concerns about money, but for $11.00 with FREE shipping ... I wouldn't hesitate, it's your call ! keep us informed ....... Boobala

BUT BUT that one has no main jet adjustment which is critical especially for a generator.

I suspect that extra port is for a primer bulb which could be useful at super cold temps.

What is with those Chinese "Tecumseh" carbs with two bowl adjustments??
