I have a 1993 38" Murray that I just inherited. Runs great and was serviced every year. My grandmother babied this.

I'd really like to put a bagger on it. I was told by Murray that I needed 24740MA. It looks like everyone sells it for $600!

It is a hard bagger. From what I have been reading, soft baggers are better?

Do I have any "generic" options, or soft bag options, or is this my only choice?

It is a model
38703X15A

Thanks for the help!

I'm not a big fan of rear baggers that rely solely on the velocity of the discharge created by the blades to fill them. They tend to clog often, even in the best conditions, and can be infuriating in less than ideal conditions.

With that said, as long as the unit is vented properly the solid construction of the bags does have an advantage. You can line them with trash bags for easy disposal.

I'm not familiar with other options for your unit. I just wanted to add that little bit of insight above. Personally I would never buy such a bagger because of the clogging issue that is so prevalent with them.
