Hi Folks! And thanks in advance for any and all replies.
I was recently gifted a JD 185 hydro. The machine looks and runs good, but needs "fine tuning".
The mower was owned by my brother, who seems to be able to fix almost anything, and keeps his equipment in good shape. HOWEVER, when it comes to getting something dialed in that is "not quite there yet" he will simply go get a bigger hammer!
The thing is, I've used the mower once so far, and it mows very sloppily, and doesn't cut short enough even though the deck wheels are in the 1 1/2" position, and it is lowered as far as possible.
Any tips on tightening things up on this mower to make it mow better?

THANKS!
Frank

Have you looked at the blades for sharpness and to see if any are bent? Have you checked the tightness of the blade belt when it's engaged and the mower is shut off?

Thanks Chris
I haven't touched anything on the mower unadvised, but I will certainly make those two things priorities during my inspection.
Much appreciated!!
