Hi all, new member here. I have an Ariens EZR 1540 model 915008. My Briggs OHV 14hp broke connecting rod. I replaced the motor with a Briggs 16hp opposed twin model 42A707 type 2238 E1 code 0006055A from an MTD that had a non electric blade engagement. My ariens has an electric PTO. When the motor is running at 2700 rpm i have voltage reading across my battery at 13.73vdc. When I switch the blades on voltage drops to 12.2vdc making it so my mower dont have enough juice to start next time. coming off the motor I have the kill wire, charge wire and headlightwire. charge wire is hooked to battery + on starter solenoid, kill wire runs to ignition tumbler, headlight wire is taped off since I have no lights on the machine. Anybody have any insight fr me? I assume i have to change alternator and flywheel. would I be better off
money wise replacing the briggs alternator or switching to an automotive alternator and welding up mounting brackets? Thanks in advance
