So I just dug out and got running an old 4 cycle Troy Bilt power head that I bought as an edger. The edger fell apart(bolt fell out)so I threw it in the shed. It's been sitting in there for years.

It's running good now so I want to use it as an trimmer.

I bought a trimmer attachment off of ebay. It has the click n trim head similar to a speed feed head. But it will only do .095 line. All my trimming is around landscape blocks. So I kinda go through the line.

Would it be worth the effort to go with a speed feed head just to be able to use a bigger line. I think the speed feed 400 will do .105 and the 450 will do .115?

Thanks

I wouldn't recommend running anything bigger than .095 on a Troy Bilt. 4 stroke engine could probably handle bigger line, but the clutch and driveshaft are a different story. I run commercial Husqvarnas and I don't even go above .095.

Try some square .095 Oregon Magnum Gatorline in it. I think you'll be impressed with the durability of it compared to your current line.
