As you might imagine, I did not find this slit in my can by looking. Nope, I found it by trying to gas up my weed wacker, and spilling gas ALL OVER my shed. I easily spilled more gas from this one incident, than this new-fangled spill-reducing design has saved in the 3 years I've owned it. Granted this failure could have just as easily happened to an old style tank, but I wasn't thrilled. I guess I have only my self to blame, because I'm pretty sure this was a harbor freight tank. I went out and bought a new one at Lowes.

I guess I can work a question into this PSA though. The tank is numbered for recycling, so I left it outside to fully air out. I just tossed the spout in the trash. Is there any thing else I should do to it, or just toss it in the recycling bin?
