Hello everyone,
I am new to this website so please forgive me if I am posting in the wrong place. I recently received an old lawnmower from a friend of mine that is self propelled.
I have gotten the engine to run great and have done a bunch of cosmetic work so far. When I got it it was missing a belt so I took a piece of string and measured the distance between the two drive pulleys leaving a little slack for the tensioner. That gave me a 32" inner diameter V-Belt and that is what I am using now. The lawnmower will move for about 5 meters until the 'tensioner' comes off of the belt and driving power is lost. attached are some pictures of how I setup the belt assembly as well as the cover for it.
In the picture the cable for the tensioner pulley is not pulled in. I appreciate any help for this I don't know how else to make this work...

You have mounted the belt improperly. It should run between the belt guide and the pulley. If you measured for the new belt with the rope like this, it is going to be to long. I can see an ID teg, please post the model and serial numbers.
